Toshiba Pioneers Interface IC TB9033FTG, Accelerate Development of Automotive Electronic Systems
Sep 27, 2024 View: 204
Toshiba Electronic Components and Storage Corporation (" Toshiba ") announced the industry's first Automotive Clock Extension Peripheral Interface [1] (CXPI) responder interface IC "TB9033FTG" that complies with the CXPI standard of the Automotive Communication protocol.
The TB9033FTG is the industry's first [2] IC with built-in hardware logic [3] that controls sending and receiving via the CXPI protocol as well as Universal Input/Output (GPIO). This not only eliminates the need to develop dedicated software, but also helps reduce product development time.
The new IC has 16 GPIO pins, six to switch to AD converter input and four to switch to pulse width modulation (PWM) output. In addition, it integrates a large number of features that can be used in a wide range of automotive applications: including input monitoring in sleep mode, switch matrix (up to 4×4) input, and output when communication is interrupted.
The IC has built-in fault detection circuits for overheating, overvoltage and undervoltage. It also detects the situation before an exception occurs and sends the data to the command node, which improves fault detection performance in automotive applications.
With an operating temperature range of -40 to 125 °C, suitable for automotive applications, the IC will meet the AEC-Q100 certification standard for automotive electronics.
The TB9033FTG supports the multiplexing of automotive communications and reduces the wiring harnesses used in body control systems, helping to reduce vehicle weight.
In addition, Toshiba is developing an automotive CXPI communication drive receiver IC "TB9032FNG" that switches between the command node and the response node via an external pin.
Applications:
CARS
Application of body control system (steering wheel switch, dashboard switch, light switch, door lock and rear view mirror, etc.)
Features:
The responder interface IC complies with the CXPI standard of the automotive communication protocol
High-speed response for automotive body system applications (compared to LIN)
16 GPIO pins (four to switch PWM output and six to switch AD converter input)
Switch matrix (up to 4×4) Input function
Fault detection function (this product detects abnormal precursors and automatically sends data to the command node) : overheat, overvoltage and undervoltage
Low current consumption (standby current) : IVBAT_SLP = 10 μA (typical)
Low EMI and high EMS simplify noise design
It has high ESD impedance and therefore high static resistance
Will pass AEC-Q100 certification

[1] CXPI (Clock Extended Peripheral Interface) : A communication standard developed in Japan for automotive subnets derived from LIN[4]
[2] CXPI interface ics used as response nodes. Toshiba Investigation as of September 3, 2024.
[3] Logic circuits configured using hardware without microcontrollers.
[4] LIN (Local Internet) : A communication standard for in-vehicle sub-networks at lower cost and speed than those provided by CAN[5].
[5] CAN (Controller Local Area Network) : A serial communication standard, mainly used in automotive communication networks.
